Dive The Great Carrier Reef

Colt Creek Diving will be starting the 2009 Tec Diving season with a special treat.  The USS Oriskany who during the VietNam War launched more sorties and flew more missions than any other US Navy Carrier was sunk in May 2006 to form the world’s largest artificial reef.

The 2008 hurricanes have tilted Oriskany starboard approximately 10°.  This Starboard list has lowered the top of the Island to about 80 feet and the flight deck at the Island to about 147 feet.  Her keel rests on the bottom at 212 feet.  These depths provide a multitude of exciting dive plans

Because her tower is within recreational dive limits, this trip will include both Technical and Recreational divers!

Remember to check the site frequently to sign up for future Colt Creek Diving Tec Trips and to view trip plans and reports.

UPDATE:  A dozen Colt Creek divers have safely returned from diving this incredible vessel.  Our huge thanks to MBT Divers and H2O Below.  Their staff and crew helped to make this a trip we’ll remember for a long time to come.  Check out the links below to see some details from our journey.
