PADI Enriched Air Diver

Why PADI Enriched Air Diver?

Ever wonder why some people on your dive boat seem to stay down longer and have more dives during the day than your No Decompression Limits will allow?  Chances are they’re breathing Enriched Air or Nitrox.

The air we breathe contains 21% Oxygen and 79% Nitrogen (there are trace gasses in there too but they don’t concern us).  As scuba divers we are limited by the amount of Nitrogen absorbed in our bodies.  By increasing (or enriching) the Oxygen content in the air we take with us to depth we reduce the Nitrogen volume.  Presto!  More bottom time and shorter surface intervals.

The PADI Enriched Air Diver course will teach you how to determine these new extended NDLs as well as how to determine the best gas for your planned depth.  You’ll learn how to test gas mixtures and how to handle and label cylinders.
